For two-tank airplanes

Know what’s in each tank.

Your fuel totalizer shows the total. Tank Tracker shows each side, plans the fewest switches for your trip, and lands you with even tanks.

The problem

The totalizer knows the total. Not the tanks.

Fuel flow systems count every gallon burned, but they can’t tell which tank it came from. The fuel gauges are a rough guess at best. So pilots switch every 30 minutes and hope the sides stay close.

How it works

One number at each switch.

Type the fuel remaining your totalizer shows when you switch tanks. Tank Tracker does the subtraction and charges each leg to the tank you were on.

  1. Set starting fuel

Enter what’s in each side and your takeoff tank. Full tanks are filled in for you.

    LEFT 40.5 · RIGHT 40.5
  2. Log at each switch

Type the totalizer’s remaining fuel and tap Switch. Switch at any reading: 5, 8 or 12 gallons all work.

    Totalizer shows 71.0 → Switch
  3. See each tank

Both tanks, the imbalance and a leg-by-leg log update instantly. Undo a mis-tap with one button.

Trip plan

Switch on the numbers. Land even.

Enter the fuel you’ll have at your destination. Tank Tracker uses a well-known fuel-balancing table to plan the fewest switches that keep the tanks within 10 gallons and land them even. Try it here.

Trip planner

Same math as the app. Change any number.

Fuel to burn from each tank, in order, by total trip fuel T
Trip fuel T1st2nd3rd4th5th
T ≤ 20T/2T/2
20 < T ≤ 4010T/2Rest
40 < T ≤ 60102010+(T−40)/2Rest
60 < T ≤ 8010202010+(T−60)/2Rest

Legs alternate, starting on the takeoff tank. Your trip’s row is highlighted.

  • Switched late or early? The app re-plans from the reading you actually logged.
  • Winds changed? Update fuel at destination and the switch points follow.
  • Uneven tanks or a different imbalance limit? The plan uses your numbers.
Features

Built for the cockpit.

Big numbers, big buttons, nothing to sign in to. Everything is optional except the one number you log at each switch.

Switch alerts

A notification when the next switch is due, timed from your fuel flow. It sounds with the phone locked and in airplane mode.

Imbalance watch

The imbalance shows at all times and turns amber, then red, as it nears your limit.

Leg log

Every switch with the time, reading, gallons per leg and both tank totals. Undo a mis-tap with one button.

Fix it in flight

Wrong starting fuel or the selector somewhere unexpected? Correct it mid-flight and every leg recalculates.

Works offline

No signal needed, ever. Your flight is saved on the phone and is still there if you close the app.

Private by design

No account, no tracking, no ads. Nothing you enter ever leaves your device.

Your fuel log stays yours.
